Map and Compass Skills

Learn how to read a USGS map and use a map and compass to find your way in the wilderness.  Don't be lulled in to complacency with a gps.  Learn how to find your way home when you cell phone takes a dive or your gps runs out of batteries or the dreaded no signal.

Bird Watching and Photo Excursions

Come explore 2.5 miles of lake shore line and 350 primitive acres.  Search for your favorite Texas bird and wildlife.  Bring your camera, hiking shoes, and a picnic basket filled with your favorite lunch. Option available to have the Snake Charmers prepare and lunch for you for an extra fee. Enjoy a day in nature.

Camping

Primitive camping in West Texas on Lake Stamford.  Enjoy a weekend of primitive camping.  Get back to nature.  Access to Lake Stamford and 350 primitive acres suited for hiking, mt. biking, trail running and relaxing. No fancy accommodations, just you and nature. We have sit on top kayaks available for guests and paddle boards. Limited electrical hookups available for a fee. Water is fresh and raw water from Lake Stamford

 

Camping fee per night applies and day use fee per person. Available during the months of March, April, May, September, October, and November (weather permitting).

Fossil Finding Hike and Picnic

Hike the river bank of South Paint Creek on a private ranch near the community of Paint Creek, Texas.  Day hikes can be scheduled for the months of September, October and November (weather permitting). The hike will include transportation from the ranch gate in the ranch "Yukon" to the river, a two to six mile day hike exploring the river bed searching for fossils, a picnic lunch (menus available upon booking hike), and keeping fossil finds.  All Native American artifacts found belong to L&N Paint Creek Ranch and can not be kept or taken from the property.
